Bringing back items for ALA cash........
Started By
When I first started ALA not that long ago, it was possible for those who could not purchase bones to compete on nearly the same level as those who could.

You had the option of magical rubber balls and the magical food bowl in the cash boutique.

Now that they are bones only, and rotated in the monthly shop, prices have shot up in the user shops. Maxing dogs takes longer, and winning trials is harder.

I have noticed a lot of long time players leaving the game. Not sure this new direction is best for ALA.

With the new trial system, you cannot earn as much cash. That is alright, however, now the things you may have purchased with cash have moved to bones only.

It seems that ALA is moving towards a model that encourages users to spend real $$ in order to move further in the game.

I can forsee how that will make this site a thing of the past. No, it is not REQUIRED that you spend real $$, but those that do are fewer and fewer.

Then what?

I think that the game needs to have balance between those who donate, and those that do not. It is very unbalanced at the moment.

1. Magical items/rares were <b>never</b> supposed to be available for cash.<br /> It would be nice to see some of them in the Boutique, I totally agree with that! I think it'd be awesome, and good for the site.<br /> However, that they were ever purchasable for cash was more-or-less and error, so this is not some model that Alacrity is "moving towards".<br /> <br /> 2. Most of the problems with bones and speciality items being unobtainable except by donating to the site is because of Alacrity's <b>current economy</b>.<br /> And do you know what's making that economy that much worse? It's very simple: it's people making several hundred thousand dollars a <i>day</i> trialing. <i>That's a lot of money,</i> even by Alacrity standards, and people don't seem to realise this -- instead they take it for granted. And then tons of people have more money, and so item prices go up and up and up.<br /> <br /> <br /> I understand that it's frustrating to not get everything you used to get, but the changes to the trialing system were made to stop the site from basically imploding, and help <i>improve</i> the situation that you seem to think is a result of it.

I agree on that point Clay. Besides, then players would be tempted to buy and hold so they can sell for more later.<br /> <br /> Adding some items back into the user shops for ALA cash would remove cash from the site, which was a prior goal anyway. (And a big motivation for the trial change).<br /> <br /> I do believe that the *real* motivation behind it is to try and generate more donations. That sort of thing usually just drives users from a site, unfortunately.

I don't understand why the "popular players" would be forced to do this?

I agree; especially with the bone price skyrocketing. And even if we can earn more from trials, it's a waste to have money if you can't or won't spend it on the things you want. So really, this will just retain the money already in the economy and add more as people hoard it. Clay, I could've sworn I saw the MRB for cash last week, but I guess that might've been before the cash boutique reset. <br /> <br /> <br /> What would be really amazing but probably reeeeally bad would be if we organized a mass coalition to lower prices: even if we just get a lot of popular players to, example, not set a certain item above a certain price, people would stop paying a high amount otherwise because they knew they could get it cheaper, therefore everyone would have to lower it to sell, and it's possible that the main stores could follow suit in order to maintain the removal of cash from the economy.

I can probably make that much. The 100k as I mentioned was just one round this morning.

Clay, I used to make 500k+ per day. Now, I can do 150K per day if I am diligent. Of course, that is only because of capped dogs.<br /> <br /> All I meant by that is that compared to the quantity of cash that *used* be be readily winnable, it is a lower amount now.<br /> <br /> That is not as much of an issue as the lack of ALA cash items readily available.<br />

I agree to a certain extent. I wish particular items would be available for cash again. I can't afford to donate any real $$ anymore (what with two rats, a dog, a frog, and various bills and tuition that need paying), so I save the bones I have for certain super-special things. I used to spend my cash on stuff I needed, like Magical Rubber Balls (my favorites!). I had no problem spending cash on these whenever I needed them. But now that I can't buy them with cash anymore, I'm just hoarding my cash instead. I miss buying stuff I need D:

Just a small thing I want to touch on:<br /> <i>"With the new trial system, you cannot earn as much cash. "</i><br /> Untrue. I've been trialing about.. 5 dogs that are only a couple-thousand TP (you can see them in my Trial Dogs kennel), and I can make 100K EASILY.<br /> <br /> However I do want the MRB back for cash.
